Kemah Boardwalk – 37 miles

If you love amusement park that too adjacent to a pier than this place is for you. We went there during New year Eve and it was very colorful. With lots of rides for both adults and children there are plenty of food options too inside and outside the boardwalk. For non veg and Seafood lovers there are plenty of options inside and nearby areas. Do watch the below video to know more.

 

Pleasure Pier – Galveston – 60 miles

One of the famous place near Houston is the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. Located about an hour from Houston It is around 60 miles from Houston. Well there is parking available just opposite Pleasure pier. Pleasure Pier is an amusement park adjacent to the Galveston beach. There are numerous rides and foodie places inside. Also if you are a sea food lover then you will many restaurant outside Pleasure pier that serves seafood. Visitors doesn’t need to take the amusement ride tickets if they do not want they can just take a general ticket without rides to enter the premises. Where they can check various paid games along with nice cafes and offcourse the lovely view of the pier. As Pleasure Pier is located in Galveston beach so visitors can also visit the Sea as well. Galveston is one of the most popular quick getaways for locals. The island offers sandy beaches, seafood restaurants, historic architecture, and family attractions. Crystal Beach – Texas – 100 miles

Another Place to check is the famous Crystal beach which is located in Bolivar Peninsula. If you are coming in your Car then do take the ferry route which is I 45 S if possible. The ferry is free and took our car to the bolivar peninsula from there crystal beach is around 10 miles from there. The ferry comes after every 15-20 min and it takes around 20 min to reach Bolivar Peninsula dock area. The main advantage in this trio was that you can directly take your vehicle to the beach. There are many activities also there do do. One important thing is to take the Beach Parking sticker and stick it to your car windscreen. You will find it in any general store there which costs us $10. It has a validity from Jan to Dec. So if you buy in Jan then till Dec you can go there with the same sticker. But if you buy in October than the validity is of 3 months only.

Capitol Building – Austin – 170 miles

The famous Capitol Building in Austin is around 170 miles from Houston. Capitol Building  houses the offices and chambers of the Texas Legislature and of the Governor of Texas. There is a visitor centre too where you will find rich history of texas. There are great Indian restaurant too. In my view 2 days is more than enough to be in Austin. Natural Bridge Caverns – 191 miles

The famous Caves near San Antonio takes around 3.2 hrs to reach from Houston. The Caves visit was an unique experience. There are many activities you will find there but the main attractions are the Discovery Tour and the Hidden Wonders Tour. We chose the Discovery Tour but visitors can choose both. One tour takes around an hour to complete. Here we explored the rock formation from 100 years to millions years. That was an unique experience. I strongly recommend to have this experience atleast once in life. Do check the below video to know more.

River Walk San Antonio – 200 miles

San Antonio offers a mix of history, culture, and relaxing waterfront experiences. The famous River Walk attracts millions of visitors every year with restaurants, shops, and scenic walking paths.The famous River walk in San Antonio is around 200 miles from Houston. It takes around 3.5 hrs in Car. Greyhound buses also ply from Houston and visitors can also take there services as well. River Walk is a landmark pedestrian walking zone with cafes and shops lined on each side of the river. Apart from River walk check out the famous historic site Alamo where you can also check out the Gun show between 11:30 am to 12:30 am. New Orleans – 350 miles

The driving distance from Houston to New Orleans is approximately 350 miles. Well we went from Pensacola and it was around 200 miles which took us atound 4-5 hrs. You can visit the French Quarters and also check out the famous Bourbon street there.

Arkansas – 430 miles

For travelers in Houston, Arkansas is one of the easiest and most underrated weekend escapes in the South The drive is around 5-6 hrs from Houston. Arkansas offers a completely different experience just a few hours from Houston. Arkansas is one of the most underrated weekend escapes in the South. Pensacola – 525 miles
