 If Maa Kamakhya Railway Station comes on your way while coming to Guwahati then you can get down there too. The temple is very close from the station. Proper parking arrangements and Public convenience is available for the devotees.

  Story of Kamakhya Temple – According to Kamakhya Mandir website the Maa Kamakhya Devalaya is considered most sacred and oldest of the 51 Shakti Peethas on earth Out of 51 parts of Maa sati the Yoni- Mudra ( the female Genitalia or the Vulva) of Sati fell here. It is believed that Kamadeva (God of Desire) worshiped Maa Sati here because of which this place is also known as Kamrup and the deity is known as Kamakhya or one worshiped by Kama. 

There are lots of shops here for buying various Puja materials.

Best Time to visit Kamakhya Mandir – We reached the temple at 5:30 am. It is better to reach as early as possible for e:g 5:00 am. The devotees starts to crowd here from very early morning .For avoiding crowd you can purchase VIP passes too but still you have to wait for sometime. While the Temple opens from 5:30am but the Garv Greha the main entrance for visiting the deity opens from 8:00am.

 For your own comfort you can hire a Panda or Priest who will guide you in performing the pujas and rituals of the temple. It’s totally up to you to hire them we are not recommending them it is just a suggestion from us. Photography and Videography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum but there is no such restriction outside
